winter is coming up

so here is my question about the manual locking hubs- can i keep them locked and drive around on them without being in 4wd? will it cause any sort of abnormal wear?

i would be driving maybe like 60 miles a day. will that cause problems?

I wouldn't if I were you. It caused a lot of problems on my Bronco II.

I ran with them locked for about two months, then for a while I would run a tank unlocked then for a tank locked (only made around 1mpg difference, or less). I didn't have any problems while keeping them locked, and I couldn't tell the difference power-wise either. Right now I keep them unlocked, but will lock them if I think the weather may justify the use of 4wd. I drive around 50 miles per day.

i know of people who leave them locked all winter. I guess it all depends on if you want the front axle always spinning or not.

Lots of fullsize trucks have the front axle in all the time. I think the only reason to disengage them in the winter is for better mileage. I accidentally left my hubs locked last summer and made a round trip to Kansas City (1000+ mile round trip in almost 100 degree weather averaging about 75-80) before I realized it.... Nothing bad happened and I still got almost 19mpg...
