Ive been trying to figure out how im going to do this but has anybody ever heard of using coolant lines or extended coolant lines to heat your washer fluid container. some of the bmw's use this and it works really good. engine warms up, makes the coolant lines hot, makes your washer fluid container warm and when you spray it, it melts the ice FAST. just wondering if anybodys done this to an exploder yet...Im off to work!

Hmmm....hot water on a 30 below windshield sounds like trouble to me...

Heh, as I was reading the post I was simultaneously thinking the same thing...CRACK!!!

Prestone makes a de-icer washer fluid that works great!!!

Rain-X -40°C De-Icer washer fluid is good enough for winter !

A second vote for the Rain-X -40. BMW puts all that garbage on their vehicles to inflate the sticker price. Over the next few days it is predicted to be -30C in my city...I will be using Rain-X -40.

Why not just use the tool to scrape the windshield? Or warm up the car nad use the defroster?

Today I had to do both and then I still needed the washers to see where I going. My damn brush needs a renewal...and it's only one year old. We have a few inches or so today with high winds and temps in the -40C with chill. My commute home was so long that the changer ran through all the discs...twice. Didn't see any BMW's with heated washers having fun out there...guess they could afford to stay home.

Buick & Cadillac also have heated w/s washer fluid.
For 10 years or more I have used an empty gal. container to fill with hot water and pour over the windows. Never had a problem.

it all depends on how cold it is and how hot/warm the fluid is.

a couple years back, I was on my way in to work... it was about -20*F out.
driving down the highway, out of nowhere, "CRAAAAAAACK"

a nice long crack near the bottom of my windsheild, almost the whole length.

came outta nowhere!
