I've read all the information about the Phantom wipers, however mine are differnt. While on delay they will come up the window half half then pause then back down. Wait while on delay then back up agian stop then finish wiping. It's like they pause a second time in the middle somewhere. Sometimes they work fine. What would be the cause of this and what steps should I take in fixing? Thanks for your help.

I had this same problem. I ended up replacing the wiper motor. I got one from a junk yard and put it in and has been working fine. Ford told me sometimes motor has a slip and sometimes catches the slip to mess up. Also you can check your turn signal relay. Right side of steering wheel. They told me check that first but that was not my problem. Good Luck and Let Me know what happens.

Just my 2 cents.

Do you mean turn signal switch (multi function switch)?

I agree with the wiper motor being the problem.

Yeah I mean the multi ###tional switch. Sorry I forgot the name. But check both of them. Thats what I did to mine and its work now.

I also notice a problem with my wiper control. Mine though just seems to wipe at whatever interval it wants. Never had the "stop in the middle of a wipe". Sometimes if I set it to the first notch it will wipe as if it's on the last delay notch and vice versa. Mine I think is the multifunction switch. The wiper motor on yours could just need the brushes cleaned if it's possible to break the motor down. I had a drill that would basically function the same way "intermittenly".

Still have the problem, I havent replaced the motor yet cause I think its in the switch, It works fine on the high speeds But on delay it will go one swipe and stop in the center and stay. Also I have to push the washer a couple of times just to get it to wash the window. Could this be in the switch? Or is there a relay fuse somewhere? And how do you get the wiper switch off if thats the problem?

Thanks for your help

I had same problem. Mine was the motor. I would replace that.

Is there a chance it could be the switch?? I would think the motor would cause it to have problems on hi as well? Trying to avoid the higher part :) thanks for your input though.

I had same problem.I went and got a whiper motor from the junk yard. Has been working since. That will save u money. I asked a couple people why it would do that and they said there is a slip in the motor that causes that. Just a little help.

Is there a way of testing the motor first before replacing it?

Thanks

I agree, but that still doesn't address the washer fluid not working. I'm leaning towards the multifunction switch.

If I push it in hard and wiggle it around it works.

Same thing happened to me, I found that if you quickly turn the wiper interval dial on the stick multiple times, it temporaly fixes the problem...could be the electric contacts getting dirty or something.
