does the stock line have enough power to run these high powered sunlamps.

thanks for any and all info.

You'll need to install the KC harness like normal, but use the stock fog wires in place of the KC switch.

Can he just use the existing wires? Don't they have factory relays strong enough to run the KC Lites?

The KC lights draw much more amps than the stock fogs. It could heat up the factory wires to the melting point. More important is that the factory wires dont deliver the same # of volts that the KC harness will. 11 or so volts compared to 13+ volts from the KC harness. You spent the money to get bright lights but if not installed correctly they wont be as brite as they can be. Factory wiring could reduce the brightness by 20 watts or more.
Factory wiring is for factory lights.

Thanks Bill.

Yes, you want to use the stock wires as a switch, not for full power. Not only will the stock wiring limit your light output if you use it for full power, but you'll soon have melted plastic and a fire under your hood.

So what wattage would you say the factory fog lites wiring would be good enough? Would a pair of lights that produces 50 watts be too much? 20?

35

Is it possible to use the power wires in the bumper that would have been going to the old fogs themselves to power a relay that turns on the KC sytem? That would eliminate any new wiring.....The lights would not be drawing out of the old harness either, only the power signal for the relay....

Crankcase-
Now THAT, I am sure 100% that is okay to do. ;)

isn't that what I said?

ok so basically i'll be wiring in a new switch with all the stuff that kc sends me.

You will be wiring in Most of the stuff KC sends you. Not the switch. Just hook the oem wire from the fogs to the relay in place of the switch.
Not the best pic but I hope you get the idea.
