hey guys, I've been searching around on how to run new speaker wire to the front door and only found one post that suggested drilling a hole, using a grommet, etc. I'm not a big fan of having to drill so I was wondering if anyone had a suggestion or had done anything different? The problem is that big platisc box like thing that the rubber tube connects to.
Any suggestions appreciated
Thanks

yea on the driver side, you gotta drill a hole to get around the junction box. The passender side is easily fished through the the rubber tube. Use a clothes hanger first then tie/tape the wire to it and pull the hanger out to thread the wire through. On the driver side you'll need to at least use a bit of silicone or a grommet to protect the wire. I managed to get about a 4g wire through the openings I've just described. I'll take pics of it in a bit if you need a visual representation.

yea i have all the other doors just fine, its the driver side i dont know what to do with. I may just splice in that one speaker to the HU. If you have a chance to take pics I would appreciate it. Thanks Stu

You got it, man. I'll have the pics up and a little more thorough instructions later in the afternoon (gotta go give Chuck E. Cheese some of my money). Hope this isn't too late for ya. How long you been cruisin' with 3 speakers?

oh the 4th one is still hooked up...this has been a weekend project...first time install on an amp and decided to make it more challening (for me) by running all new wire as well but its been a great learning experience.
whenever you get around 2 it. i have tommorow to work as well. thanks

newer x's must be alot different than 1st gens. I was able to run new speaker wires no problem through the existing rubber tubes, and the interior panels hide it all.

oh yea everything is fine and hidden. for now i just spliced into the existing speaker wire off the HU...would be suprised if I could actually "hear" a difference.

Man i'm sorry I havent gotten to this sooner. We've had some pretty exciting weather down here in SoTex. But I got the pics this afternoon and I've put them in the "Door Wiring" album at http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/stuart9682/my_photos
Theres also some pics of the cables that went through the doors in the "Install Gear" folder. The easiest way to go is from the inside of the door (through the speaker hole) and drill outward. Use silicone RTV to protect your cables from the sheet metal. Just cut a slip in the rubber seal behind the kick to feed the wire through.
Pic 1- labeled
Pic 2- Out of door
Pic 3- Through to kick
Pic 4- Behind kickpanel and rubber panel
Hope this helps
