What wiring in under the center console on a 1996 Ford Explorer/Eddie Bauer ?
I removed the center console to clean under it for spilled coffee, etc & now none of the power windows will work. Everything else is working. Although I didn’t clean very hard, I’m guessing the wiring if now off… will disconnecting the battery work to reset it? The wires are all wrapped in heavy black tape for they don’t look very fragile. Any suggestions? Thank you !

i dont think any wiring for the power windows runs through the center console althouh i could be wrong.. i do know though that the wiring for the rear air, rear radio controls, the cd changer, message center, and some others do run through that area. you might want to search for 'wiring diagrams' as some people have posted information on this subject. hope this helps! welcome to the site.

Thank you! I have been searching for the wiring diagrams. I also need to check the #30 fuse per the owners manual. Is there a way to tell if it is blown?

if you look at the front face of the fuse with the terminals pointing vertical, you will see a thin strip of metal connecting the two posts inside the plastic, if it is broken, burnt, melted it is blown

You can also double check with an Ohmmeter. Measuring resistance between the two posts, a blown fuse will show infinite resistance. A good fuse will be 0.00 to about 10.00 ohms
