2006 Explorer xls
Hi guys, I just found this forum from some googling, and I can already tell it’s going to be an invaluable resource!!

Anyway, I recently won a 2006 Explorer XLS at a local fire dept. auction (for a STEAL!!), but there were some mods done to it in order to accommodate their computer system.

The center console lid was removed, and a piece of diamond plate was attached in its place, to serve as the base for the computer. In the process of this, it appears that they took out the ductwork for the rear console vent, since there was no longer any room.

If anyone could refer me to a part #, what that piece is called, or even a picture of the inside of your console, I would greatly appreciate it!

I’m on my phone now, but I could go on my computer to upload some pics if it helps (or if you just want to see the before/after... she cleaned up nice!)

Thanks!

Not sure if this is helpful or not, but this is under the front 2 cupholders and the gear shift. Somehow the previous owner managed to spill soda inside the cup holders, which is a nightmare to clean up.

The plastic tube with the orange sticker is the tube that feeds air to the vents on the back of the center console.

Sorry if you can’t read that sticker. Tried to take it off, but it just ripped.

That’s it! I now see why they took it out, it definitely would have been in the way of their gear setup.

Unfortunately, I’ve tried googling every combination of bits & pieces of what I can make out, to no avail. Is there any way wipe some of the soda residue off? Specifically the rest of the area that starts off with 7L24....

I understand that’s asking a lot out of an internet stranger, so no worries if you can’t. But thanks for the reply nonetheless, it at least confirms that something, does in fact, go there.

Thanks again!

07EddyB managed to find the part you needed, but I thought I’d post this picture anyway. I think the long numbers is 7L24-78044D34-AD34T3. A bunch of other interior parts start with xLxZ, whereas x is a random number, so I no clue why that sticker is different. Also, I don’t know how much ductwork you’re missing, but I beilive there is a second piece in between the linked part and the rear vents that takes the duct under the center console. (Just from what I can see under the rear cupholders)

Hopefully someone smarter than me can get you sorted out! (My car knowledge ends somewhere between installing a new stereo system to knowing what VTEC actually does beyond getting chicks and polluting eardrums)
