hey guys I have a 98 ford exploder sport 4.0 5speed well my 4.0 has over 200k and im expecting it to blow anytime soon since I give it hell but when it goes im wanting to put a 302 in and go AWD idk much about for mods I mostly do stuff to my little trans am's lol so when you go calling the trannys and t cases by there actual names it will lose me sorry im just wondering what it will take etc I work for a ford dealership but I don't ever do mods like this so I need your insight guys thank you

you mean what will it take to do a v8 swap? look into my registry. i did one on mine about 2 years ago, and showed pretty much everything you will need to know.

Best bet would be to locate a 96-01 4 door v8 awd explorer and swap everything over, I'm not sure exactly on fuel systems on them but I know at some point they went to the return less system. But basically swap engine harness ECM trans and t case. I haven't done it myself as I started with a 2wd v8 auto converting to 4wd with 5 speed but there is a good bit of info on it here and I'm sure some one who has done it can and will give you more info.

ok will my stock 5 speed work with the 302 im not sure and with the 4x4 stuff its 2wd right now I wanna go 4x4 or awd

in okc there is a salavage yard I can get the t case 4x4 front axle ,motor etc for like 500

the 5 speed from the 4.0 will not work on the 5.0 you will need one from a 5.0 or 5.8 f-150.
