My 01 ST will not go past 35 mph. I let my brother take it into the Pennsylvania mountains this week and on his way back the truck lost power. I noticed my idling RPM's are now below 1k which I thought looked odd because I remember it always being slightly above 1k. Also, when accelerating the truck feels very light and the rpm's won't go past 2k. Truck has 105k miles on it, any ideas of what it might be? Thanks, i'd really appreciate it.

Hay Newport,
My first thought is that the computer thinks that the truck is in neutral or park and sets that blasted rev limiter.
Good luck Ed

Interesting thought Ed.... only thing is when I rev the engine in park i can get it past 3k thanks though for the thought

Also, back on my idling rpm speed... my cold idle is still 1.5k so forget what i said there.

I hope its not the transmission, but i dont think it is since if I was stuck in a gear it would go past 2k rpm.

Wound up being a clogged catalytic converter... thank god it wasn't the transmission!!

woww I have the exact same problem in my truck.. I hope its the cat converter too
