Hi, ok this past weekend I went mudding and playing in water and now my truck will not start. The starter turns and everything, their is spark, but something just isn't going. Any input on what it might be? Ask any questions that would help you more also if you need, thanks.

Are you getting fuel?
To run the engine needs three basic things: air, spark and gas. With out one of these three it will not run.

hmmm

Well, yeah, those three are key. But don't forget compression and TIMING. How many miles on that '91? Did it die while you were out playing, or did it just refuse to start the next morning?

If you somehow stressed the engine (bogged it in mud under high load, etc.), then timing chain MIGHT have skipped a couple of teeth. This might keep your engine from starting, but it also would probably have stalled the motor when it happened.

Pull a plug, stuff a paper towel in the hole, and crank the engine over a few times. Pull the paper towel and check for fuel. It should be evident. If not, it's a fuel problem.

Also might put a timing light on it and see if the timing is way off - and I do mean way off.

Anything else you can tell us about the circumstances of the trouble?

Did it die during "playing" or just not wanna start after?

This is a shot in the dark, but you did say that you were playing in water, so I'll take it...

A friend of mine drove his Gutless (err...Cutlass) Ciera through a moster puddle in his neighborhood. Everything's fine, he parked the car in his garage, and the next day, the thing wouldn't start. I'm trying to remember what exactly was water-logged (I do know that water in a cylinder is bad...kinda extinguishes combustion)...at any rate, he let it sit for a week and dry out and apparently, that worked. You might try investigating that route if everything else turns up negative.

same problem

i experienced this same problem. this morning i went to start my truck and it wouldn't start. i'm not getting any fuel to the engine, but i am getting everything else. i wasn't out water bogging either, it just wouldn't start the next day. i'm gonna check the fuel pump when i get home today and hopefully swap it out.

good luck with your problem

I was taking it pretty hard through water and mud. It stalled when I was playing but it cranked right back up and I came home cause I didn't want to get stuck out there. I didn't think much of it and the next morning it wouldn't start. I've check the fuel line, fuel filter, plugs, distribution box, mass air sensor, everything has checked out ok. Hope this helps
