95 Expedition 4x4 Sport
Just picked up a 1995 Explorer Sport 4x4 Expedition Package last week. I love it, but I have a few questions. It came with a after market alarm, but can't seem to get it to work. Also it has a key less entry pad on the drivers door, but also can I use a remote to unlock/lock the doors? I didn't get a remote, but thinking of picking one up. Does all the explorers have this feature, just got to add the wiring or something? Also how the heck do you hook a cd changer up in this thing? My radio supposedly supports one, but I have no clue where to hook it up. My buddy has one that he gonna send me that is out of a 96 model, but I can't find where to plug in at. Already looked behind the radio and no luck. Thanks

Congrats on the purchase. Answers to your questions;
Aftermarket alarm-no answer

Key Pad on door. Look beyond (toward front of vehicle) the jack in the jack storgae area. You'll see a computer module there. A 5 digit number will be printed on it, that is the code for the door key pad.

Keyless Remote-The FOB needs this 5 digit code programmed into it, no extra wiring needed.

CD Changer - If the headuint has no plug available in the rear is is not a factory unit that will support the connection of a cd changer. If there is a factory CDDJ in the center console, there will be a plug on the radio for it. The units that support the CDDJ have three plugs on the backside, the smallest is where the CDDJ plugs in. There is a thread here titled something like Manufacturer Head Unit specs, it lists model numbers and specs, and I believe what each head unit is capable of doing.

Good Luck. BTW, is the engine quiet? Or is it making a dieseling noise?

Thanks for the reply. So if I bought a remote off of ebay, I can just program it with the code I have. The car dealer gave me all the codes to unlock/lock etc. Also, the stereo only has two hookups, so I guess it is a no go on a cd changer. That is weird since the radio has the DJ button plus change cd etc. Now if I could only get the alarm to work. I might just have a new one installed. But it is a nice ride. Leather seats, power everything, sunroof, etc. 138,400 miles on it, and runs great. Hopefully will be a keeper for awhile.

Hey Raptor,

If the remote (FOB) you purchased is for an Explorer then yes. Does your radio have both the CD player (at the top) and a cassette player (about midway on the face)? There are two versions of the radio that look like this, one that was used in the "Premium" type system and one that was used in "Highline" type system. The Highline is the one that supports the changer, although I do not remember the models numbers offhand. 18C688 rings a bell for the CDDJ supported model, I believe that was the number I found on mine.

Good luck!:thumbsup:
