So, I took the truck into the shop for MVI, and this is what they told me it needs:
Windshield (but that was known)
Washer pump
2 upper ball joints
left lower ball joint
hole inside left rear and right rear wheel well
fuel hoses everywhere aren't attached
gas fill neck rusted out
vent hose off of top of gas tank
rear frame crossrail
inner rocker on both sides
front y pipe
right front shock
left front sway bar link

I was told it'd be about 2k in parts alone, plus a ton of welding due to holes in the floor. The frame is also bad apparently, and they say that there'll be about another 2k in six months time if I choose to do the repairs this time around.

Rereading this, I realize it's not worth it to fix the truck, but I want some second opinions from around here.

Time to let it go. You might could get $500-$1,000 for it. Maybe Obama will have another cash for clunkers to save the world from rising sea levels.

You could do most of that with common tools and one or two savvy friends, for a lot less. I would try and quote parts first, I think 2k is too much. And maybe, if you don't have a friend with access to a welder, maybe the shop can do only the body work.

What state/province are you in? Half the stuff you listed isn't needed for most inspections. That said, what are you going to replace it with, if you decide to not repair it? Think you can find something better for the money you'd spend on repairs?

this is why i try to stay on top of repairs. when you spend a $100-$200 here and there it doesn't seem so bad. when you let stuff pile up and need to shell out thousands all at one time, on a vehicle that's only worth maybe $3000, it just doesn't seem worth it. your worst and most expensive repair issue is the rust. all that being said, would i fix it? no.

you could get another one in decent shape for 2k... if you liked the truck i would try to find another one..

Ill Lay out the costs from what we pay in Canada and then you can decide. It's probably a bit less in the states..

Windshield -- 275 (Installed)
Washer pump -- 10$ Scrap Yard
2 upper ball joints -- 27$ A piece off rock auto
left lower ball joint -- 6 Bucks off rock auto
hole inside left rear and right rear wheel wheel - Weld sheet metal - 27 Dollars a sheet + Borrow someones welder or have a buddy do itll
fuel hoses everywhere aren't attached- Junk Yard from evap to front is 40 Dollars.
gas fill neck rusted out - - 10$ Scrap Yard
vent hose off of top of gas tank - 5$ Scrap Yard
rear frame crossrail - 20 dollar piece of metal from hardware store again.
inner rocker on both sides -- You dont actually need to have solid rockers... As long as exhaust gasses don't enter the cabin that will pass.
front y pipe - Scrap Yard 25$
right front shock
- 15 dollars off rock auto
left front sway bar link - You dont need this for safety.. Take the whole bar off.

Its really not that big of a project if you have some basic hand tools and a weekend.
