I had a lot of problems with eletric 4wd...Really, the less reliable thing in the Explorer, is the eletric motor of 4wd.

Crap crap crap

Other day, with mud above my knees...And the eletric motor just stopped work. I had to open the hood and change manually...

Now Im thinking to buy a manual 4x4 e throw away the eletric motor (Ford develop a off-road named Troller here, they started to use eletric 4wd and everybody is going crazy with this crap)

So, what do you guys think? Worth it the change?

Easytraction (manual 4x4)

Wow, I have never heard of the Troller, looks fun!
But that easytraction is VERY interesting! Do you have a link for it? I assume it converts the transfer case from electric shift to manual, yes? I want to see and hear more about it.

I found the website, it looks like a well built system. But it's not cheap, I think the price converts to $600US!

Yes, is this one...Is very very well made. Everybody with Ford eletric system are changing for easytraction.

Give a look in the site, I think you can change the language up in the right. Is expensive, but in 4 years, no one complained...So, must be a very nice system. And is aluminium.

But, what do you think? I lose the Control Trac but I gain a sequencial manual 4x4...

Look what the eletric 4wd did to me...

I would say go ahead and get the manual 4x4. ControlTrac is just a cheap version of AWD anyway.

I never liked my Controltrac. I figure there's probably a lot of wear going on with it engaging and disengaging over and over. If it was snowy out, I'd just drive with it in 4hi.

But then I got a manual tcase out of a Ranger.

I say ditch it for a manual.
