I have a RF 300s that pushes 150x2 @2ohms. I want to pick up 2 Kcker Comp VR dual 4ohms, run them @ 2ohms to get the most out of the amp. Are their any downsides to running at 2ohms for the amp or subs like shrten lifespan blowing from pumping too hard etc.?

As long as you use both voice coils like you said you were going to, then no. Dual Voice Coils are basically there to provide options for wiring the subs to an amp, which you would not have if you used a Single Voice Coil setup.

Hey Kevex, is that 150 per channel? If so, those subs can take alot more than that amp puts out.

Yeah it is 150x2 @2ohms, its the only amp I have right now and will eventually upgrade and by getting those subs I don't have to upgrade them.

The only downside is that the amps will run a bit hotter and they will also draw more power to make more sound/wattage.

wait a sec...is that a downside?

i wouldn'y worry about life expectancy either. just for kicks iv'e run some of the junkiest amps that iv'e found down to 2 even 1ohm they held up ok. if it starts clipping and or overheating then swap it back to 4ohm but you should be fine.
