cargo cover

im looking for a box for my truck to fit underneath the cargo cover. right now i dont have my truck (its going to be gone till like thursday) so can someone tell me how short the box would have to be to fit? its going to be a square box, flat, with 2 12s firing towards the top of the cab. would this work?

Please don't double post. I merged the thread from Modified into this one....;)

115? and with 6 12s? i sure hope your your gonna hit at least 140 with that setup. i think if you want 115.. u shoudl just get a single 12, cus even they will hit more than 115.

i dont wana sound the wrong way, but anyone that goes for 6 12s is going for an spl setup. i have 3 10s, but they are sq subs, and will hopefully sell that andget 2 12s, from audiobahn, which is supposed to hit 150+dbs throughout a wide freq range. we'll see. but def dont get that many subs unless they are dirt cheap, but you will need to get a second battery, higher output alternator.

you really should just build 1 box and put each set of subs in its own chamber and brace the hell out of the box. 140 db will make the box flex so much you'll need to brace all corners and whatnot......i would think that would be damn loud firing up.....

i have a 12" RF Power HX2 with around 1000W going through it and it fires up.....pretty darn loud from my experience...but if you're going to have 6 12's and you want it done right.....please dont make the boxes sealed........port them!

i dont really wunna spend alot of money, and i want those mirror boxes. im going to contact him and find ou how much for one box for all 6 12s but i dunno if he can port them. im also going to get the box extremly thick.
how would i get it ported?

[OO]
`[OO]`
`[OO]`

WOULD THAT WORK? THATS ALL ONE BOX, WITH THE ` BEING THE PORTS?

how big would the box have to be to fit good in my cargo area, and fit under the cover?

I think you can fit a box up to 15" without buldging, but it can fit a 18" high box. I also suggust you built your own box. There cheaper, and dont look square and out of place. Its really not the hard, read up on it and after an hour of reading you basically know how to build on...

i would but i want a unique box. the box im getting is all clear fiberglass, with mirrored bottom and sides.

gonna be hard to fit 6 12's in the back and keep them under the cargo cover......im sure it can be done but its gonna be hard.....i have enough trouble fitting my box with just 1 12 in the cargo area....its only like 2.5 cubic feet....yours would be like 4-5 cubic feet i believe......if you want a lot of bass

You can have all 6 facing up or have 3 facing back and 3 up...

Like my drawing -->

This would save you some space...

six 12's hitting 115 would be quite pathetic and a huge waste of money.

115 is real loud. im not trying to go def or compete in competitons.

Then why get 6? You can get higher than 115 with just 3...

115db isn't all that loud. If you don't want to go deaf or compete in competitions I would get 2 high quality 12's and good amps. Why use 6 subs when all you need is 2, at most 4?

because i do want it loud. i do not like the way 2 12s sound or even the way 4 12s sound. the lowest setup i would have is 2 15s. i originally was going to have 4 kicker solo baric l5s with 4 amps, but i decided on 612s. i dunno how many dbs its gunna hit in a sealed box, but im sure it will be loud enuff.

i dont really wunna spend alot of money
Then why are you looking at $900 worth of boxes? You could build the setup (particle board and carpeted of course) for less than $100. Then you are looking at, say $200 subs, $1200. Then the proper amps to run them, $$$$$.

You could easily do 115 with two 12s and save a little cargo space. If I were you, I would start with a single dual-12 setup and see how you like it. If you don't, then add a couple more. And if you still don't like it, add a couple more. Then if you still don't like that, then permanantly fold down the rear seat and add a couple more. Basically, the system you are thinking about can be completely modular, don't start off huge if you don't need to.

Yea, these days 1 12" can do 110-140, some can do 150 from just one sub. It would be a HUGE waste of money if you want 6subs and dont want to get 115dbs, thats a laughable number these days...

maybe 115 is low, but from my freinds where the regular volume level that we listen to it plays at 65 dbs(most of you will probally laff) and is enuff to knock pictures off the wall in his apartments (off of someones third story apt wall)

and his setup is 2 sony xplod 12s with like a 350 watt amp, in a Chevy Malibu

65db wouldn't knock anything off the wall even if you were parked inside. A vacuum runs 80dbs.
