Would you have made this trade?

u plan on doing mods to the vette and how much mileage in it it looks mint conditon for that year

I'd like to leave it close to stock, maybe exhaust and intake down the road. No plans for forced induction or a bottle. Both the Contour and the Vette have almost exactly 100k miles. It's in decent shape, for its age and miles, but I did buy a two year power train warranty for it just in case.

#### no I would not make that trade. vettes suck in my book because you invest the same amt of cash into a stang, look better, be faster, and handle better that a vette. factual for the most part, except for the look better part. that's an opinion.

 hmmm, you lost me there. along the lines of what froader was saying, cars are all personal preference and if you think the stang is the better looking car, you won't hear an argument from me. your "factual" claims about which car is faster are way off though. Mid ninties corvettes and mustangs weigh about the same, but the mustang has always been underpowered. my car came with 300 horse from the factory whereas the mustang had 220-230 horse. As far as handling goes, I'm pretty sure the vette bests the mustang again. i took a snip of a quote about my generation vette from this site http://www.web-cars.com/corvette/1984-4.php "Handling was one of the primary goals during the development of the C4. Corvette engineers were obsessed with it. All the usual methods for making the Corvette the best handling car available were tried and a few new ones were developed". not trying to pick a fight here, i'm just trying to figure out what you are basing your "factual" claims on.

investing the same amount of cash. that's where the difference is. how much is a vette new? 50k? if you have 50 thousand dollars you can buy a vette and do nothing to it, OR you can buy a 30k mustang and put 20k into it. the improvements to the stang will surpass the vette. Mustangs have always been the everyday mans car, but if you want the aftermarket can make it kick ass. ford detunes them essentially. this has held true for every generation of mustang.

Hell, I can get 400 horse and pull a full G on the skidpad in a Tempo if I had enough money to throw at it. But like I said, I'm hoping to keep the car as close to stock as possible. So in an apples to apples comparison between the two cars, there really is no comparison. I see you own an older Mustang which is sweet so I understand why you'd favor another pony car, but for what I was looking for, the Mustang just wasn't going to be good enough from a performance standpoint for me...plus the targa roof will be nice in the summer
