Year, Model & Trim Level
2000 Explorer XLS
I was wondering if there was any company that makes a 3" or 4" suspension system for a 2000 Explorer XLS. If there isn't one specially made for that year and model is there any way that I can make one from parts from a different system or if i could use a whole different system in general. Thanks ahead for any and all help.

You're gonna be hit by a lot of people about using the search option -- but I'll kind of help you out: read this: http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=133899

You can use the following kits: Superlift 4" Explorer Kit, Trailmaster 4" Explorer Kit, or Trailmaster 4" Ranger Kit (w/ minor adjustments). I have the Ranger kit and so does Ray Labato. Just read that post above and you should become very familiar. Also, use the SEARCH feature of this forum - it's VERY handy. Welcome to the site!

EDIT/PS -- The body trim (XLS, XLT, Etc.) doesn't matter about the lift. Suspension is still the same except with Eddie Baurers and Limiteds maybe having air ride.

are you 2 or 4 wheel drive, that will make a difference, theres 3" lifts for 2wds and 4" for 4x4s

I'm 4 wheel drive. . . so the smallest that they make that is a direct fit is 4" then?

Ok that works. . . what size wheels/tires would you reccomend? Right now i have like 29's or 30's on it. . . they aren't stock obviously. . . would that look ok or should i bump up to 32's or 33's?

for which lift, for the 2" TT i would do 32's for the 4" get 33s or maybe 34s with some trimming

There is no way to fit 33s or 34s with just 4" of lift on a second Gen. (atleast not with "some trimming").

wait...you can fit 32's with just almost 2" of TT yet with a full 4" susp. lift 33's arn't poss???? i have def heard diff...

im gettin 33 12.5's with just 3.5 inches of lift, might be doing some trimming but they will fit

ok i have the same vehicle type (2000 xls) thing.. maybe diff color this is what i did

3 body lift and 33's first fit fine (but had to trim about 1/4 off the innner fender well not the fender)
2.5 TT (most is a 2 normally but my bolts where way low and i got near 3" really and still have a good angle on the cv's)
custom rear shackles and AAL (add a leaf) for 3" to even it out
fiberglass front fenders

i can fit 35's but my 33's are new so i will run them. pm me if you want more info
