Both of my front doors had the infamous broken yellow clips. Picked up a couple from the Ford dealer for $5 each. I feel like a normal person now not having to reach for the inner handle from the rear doors!

And theres a broken one in front. Easy fix!

Do you have the part number by any chance?

I bought the same rod clips at the ford dealer but they are to wide for the cargo door the old rod clip is all yellow plastic. The Ford parts guys were scratching their heads but they had no answer. My wife's Explorer 2000 xlt.
Does anyone know the solution?
Thanks

I was able to make the new part work by buying 3- 5/16th c clips at the hardware store. I placed them on the shaft that holds the return spring which gave enough clearance. It works fine now.

I am having trouble opening my front drivers side door. I can't open it with the key to open it I have to press the remote key a bunch of times or I have to lift the handle up and then hold in down and press the remote key to get it unlocked. I can open the door every time from the inside with out problem. Does this sound like the same problem you had? I have the trim panel off were should I look for the clip?

Thanks

Sounds like you might have to remove your door panel to see whats happening unless someone else responds. My problem is with the cargo door and the handle is not the same as passenger or drivers door. The linkage is very simular. Good Luck.
If you look at the pictures of the clips the grooves in the plastic wrap around the threaded linkage rod so if that is stripped the linkage might not travel far enough to unlatch?

Not 100% sure if this is correct, someone with more knowledge chime in.

I believe this problem is related to the outside door handle and the rod that connects to it, when the door handle gets worn out it allows the rod to sag a little bit and messes with the door latch. Grab your door handle with the truck unlocked and see if there is any play... Try to unlock it with the key pulling up on the handle just a little bit.
