First let me start off, I'm sure this is the wrong section. mods, feel free to move this.

Secondly, I search a little bit and will cover some of this in the post.

Anyway, I had just rebuilt the W in my 02 transmission. Used Motorcrafts rebuild kit, new front pump, TransGo shift kit, sun gear set, OD drum, and more. I did re-use the factory (unsure if it was first revision) solenoid pack and I ran low on funds at the time; I'm sure it's probably some of my issues. I know they have a relearn system to adjust shift points to your driving after battery is disconnected and such X amount of time. I've got a little over 100 miles on this since install.

I'm having the same symptoms as prior, though. Harsh shifting 1-2 & 2-3. Flare between same gears, more often on 2-3 transition. Mid gear hard hit like smacking a wall. The only differences now are no OD light flashing, and the trans will accept a gear when cold/warm - previously would only go into gear when cold. When it was hit.... Wouldn't do anything but rev.

I know low fluid can cause flares, it's been checked and is indeed correct amount of fluid. Am I just worrying too much for this relearn process? I know I should go ahead and buy the Latest revision solenoid pack, so i will be doing so and can install when I change out filter here shortly.

I guess I'm just freaking out.

Did you sleeve the servo bores?

No, I did not. I had bought a new reman case instead of using my old one. At time case was received, it was check and air checked without issue so didn't see if as a necessity.

Then yes, it is most likely the solenoid block. ~$300 for the latest revision from a Ford dealer like Tasca. You did use Mercon V, right?

I am ordering from Tasca today. Yes, only Mercon V.
