ok, ive spent the last hour reading old posts and responses and im still scratching whats left of the hair off my head. i am looking for opinions based on actual experience. not "i read somewhere" and heresay. i am getting near D day with a ranger V8 project that has been on the back burner forever. all electronics for the swap are from my 97 5.0L explorer that i put to sleep at the beginning of the year, she was just too rusty to save. the engine has some miles so i have located a very low mileage 5.0L H.O. engine that i plan to use, topped with GT40p's my question is: being that i am running the stock '97 electronics, and ECM, can i run the H.O. cam without issue ? can i run an E cam ? i have to believe the H.O. cam (at least) is a step up from the stock explorer cam, but will it cause issues with the ECM ? just building a driver, not looking to race it, but if that H.O. cam is gonna cause trouble, id rather replace it while the engine is on the stand. any input from knowledgeable individuals is greatly appreciated
