Ok, since I do not like the feeling of disagreement, when I may be partially to blame, I will inject my opinion again, just for clarity.
A lifted truck with driveline issues would not sell well IMO
However, removing the lift, and selling it separately, will leave you a pocket of money for the little things you might need to replace. Remember, you are removing bolt on components. My offer for the free knuckles ( you pay shipping) stands.
Other than that all you really need to sell the truck is possibly a set of swaybar endlinks, stock shackles and a cheap set of shocks. 125 bux at most. You should be able to get 500.00 for the lift kit easily. Now you are left with an easier to sell, nice riding stock height explorer with AWD. Counting the "suspension swap" profit, this just seems the best option to me. Maybe you could trade the lift kit for partial labor help?
We all want the easy way, and I do not blame you for this. In this case I just don't see an "easy way" for you to maximize your payback.
That's just it. I don't have much money and I have literally no time as it is. I work my ass off full time to survive as most do and just don't have the time to be playing with suspension stuff like this. Plus the truck as it sit's is a hell of a truck for someone who want's to make the lift work (4406 swap). I'd hate to rip apart such a cool truck.
When all is said and done what will I gain maybe 500 bucks and the truck will sell a little faster? The thing's been reliable as hell and it's fun as heck to drive. So from a timeframe standpoint I'll just keep driving it. Hell even the AC works unlike my 96. So I'll just continue to enjoy the truck though summer if I have to. I don't ever go off road, it's strictly a street truck so now that the snow is gone I couldn't care less about 4x4.
I'll have to really think about all this labor because I still need leaf springs, the endlinks and a serious amount of time to swap all this back to stock. At this point Id rather take a $500 hit and just sell it how it sits.
