Zaino instead of Rain X?

Has anyone used a Z1/Z2 Zaino treatment of windows instead of Rain X?

I personally have not, but I've heard that it works. Its discussed heavily over at Autopia. I may give it a try when I do the spring detailings.

Stephen, with it being 87 F here today, I did some Zainoing of my truck.

I treated half of the windows with Rain X and the other half with Z1 and Z2.

Suposed to rain tonight and tomorrow... we shall see.

Let me know Al, I've never cared for Rain X because its so hard to buff off without leaving a haze, if Zaino works as well and is as easy to buff off the windows as it is the paint I'dd definately give it a try.

Stephen, the application and removal was as easy as on paint; Rain V removal is indeed a *****.

Just starting to rain and I need to make a run to Home Depot.

After you buff the Rain-X, if there's a haze, try wiping with a wet towel (or spritzing a little water on on the glass) and then buff dry with another towel - preferably one of Ranney's non-linting microfibers. [obvious plug for Pakshak.com ]

I'll give that a try Gimp. Of course, what else would I use except Ranney's excellent non-linting microfiber towels that are such a bargain? I think I'll go buy 26 more, just in case they get dirty!

Question for you Micro Fiber guys. Have you used this w/Zaino? I ask because the Zaino folks seem to be so insistant that only 100% cotton be used w/their product.

I use with Zaino and it is far superior to any cotton I have ever used, The MG is simply a miracle product.

Well Sal specifies 100% cotton towels because there isn't a rating system for microfiber towels yet, and a lot of them are a cheaper blend that can scratch. If you use good ones like PakShak or the ones that Al ordered then its not an issue.

They work great with Zaino.

Al, I'm sure he accpets checks, he probably just doesnt list it. Next time I order some towels which will be soon I'll suggest he post it up on the payments page.

You're a credit card merchant aren't you Al ? Is there much of a difference in the % Paypal and credit card companies usually take? Question being why would it be in the best interest of a company to accept PayPal and not credit cards

Various credit cards charge a different rate. With American Express, we were paying 4.5^, Discover, 3.2% and Mastercard/Visa 1.25%. We no longer accept AE and Discover for the rate they charge plus they are a pain from a merchant point of view ( AE is the worst, period ).

The rate you pay is based on your average sale ticket after setting up your account. You must have a good credit rating with the bank to get the ability to take the CCs. My average ticket was $350.00, hence the low rate .

I know nada about Pay Pal as a merchant but as a consumer, they are a pain and I will not use them.

A merchant needs to be aware that the customer is the most important part of his business and should make it as easy as possible for the customer to make a purchase, period.

I can imagine NO reason for taking Pay Pal and not CCs unless the merchant has questionable credit or a very low sales volume.

Well, I'd get yourself 4 of both sizes of Ranney's towels to start. He sells a big one and a smaller one.

I use just one 18"x18" MF towel for the entire job.

Al, Double checked PakShak website, Ranney takes checks. Go to the main page and hit "Payments and Shipping" it tells you the procedure. I knew he had to at least take checks.

Good to start with a full set of towelsone for removing each product, you don't want to mix them. If you're washing you want one for that, claying (can be shared with wash) compounding/swirl removing, Zaino or whatever. The small ones are great for windows and the interior. They come 16x16 and 24x24 I think.

I purchased 8, four of each size and need more.

According to the website he's also going to offer a big 36x25 waffle weave towel. The waffle weaves are nice because they absorb more liquid, making them better to use when drying.

The Zaino side worked as well as the Rain X side.

Too early to test how long it lasts.

the problem with rain x, is if you ever wanna put a sticker on your window, where rain x has been before, it will not stick, you will almost have to wait a while for it to wear off..

Or just use some glass polish to take the Rain X off.
