in this pic it indeed looks like a well done body lift to me? see how low the frame is comapred to the body?

Also looks lifted in the front more then the back, torsion twist up front? I dunno

Let us know what you find out. They have a couple Gen III's sitting on big meats :)

I had posted a truck from them before,, and seems most of the time they are just 2wd. so i am sure that has a lot to do with it..
anyway. just my 2cents. most likely a body lift as you can fit a pretty good size tire when it is just stock.
I know from experience.

i dont think its a body lift because when you look at the wheel well picture the frame is sitting barely below the body but that is where they normally sit on the newer explorers. Also there is not a huge hole that i can see the engine and what not and i think i would be able to becausee hes got some pretty big tires on there

thats not the one , its white

I posted the white dude, they are all lifted the same on this lot

Looks like they do a wicked body lift install though! even the hitch is in the correct spot....

I vote that ita a body lift. judging by the frame alone dosnt really work for the 3rd gens as i took off my step bars and youd think i did a bl as i have a crap load of frame hangin down.

if you look at 410's pic youll notice the squared off part in the back of the wheel well behind the uper controll arm. This is normally covered by a soft part that fils in more of the opening to the engine compartment (atleast on 05s it is) That corner that you see directly behind the uper controll arm should be siting a few inches lower than it curently is.

Either way it still looks bad a$$ and has me drooling....

I'll second the fact that 3rd gen's frame hang down way far!

It's funny I went looking through all the trucks, and thought, WTF is with all the pre-runner style lift's what is this San Diego? Then I looked at the address..yeap San Diego! :D It all makes sence now. It's like the OC

Note: Gen III no torsion bar, coil over shock.

Rancho never did release their 2" 4 new coilovers kit did they?

Aparently im staring a patern of quoting here.
Nope. As of last check, maby a week or so ago, i called 'em and they had pushed the coilovers back indefinately. Sucks as I really want a lift, and these BLs got me drooling, but then i think of how many times ive hit the frame on stuff and know that wont help me there.

Yes it will.
A body lift allows you to run bigger tires.

Bigger tires are the ONLY way to lift the frame up higher from the ground (not talking torsion twist here, which just pushes the suspension down and the middle of the frame up)

For every 2" of tire size you go, the frame gains 1" of ground clearance.

I believe that all the Gen III come stock with a 3.55 axle ratio. That is going to be a problem with bigger tires. I am not aware of anybody making ring and pinion gears for the rear axle.

True, wich is why i want to put 265s on mine anyway, id buy myself close to an inch over the stock tires. Think im stuck waitin till after the holidays on that tho :(
Id do a TT, but id need some torsion bars for that ;)

I could be wrong, but i think the diff is an 8.8, wich could be re geared without much dificulty, no?
