We need some CO locals to organize a CCR meet in the Ouray area in September of 2018. KOA there is about the best place for us to all make a base camp out of. I think there is enough of you to collectively pull it off. :)

I can totally understand that. Mine was bought brand new here in the springs. The lady I bought it from, her dad bought it new.

I’ve always thought it was cool that my parents bought it brand new and that it’s stayed in the family. It’s always been my favorite vehicle that they’ve owned.

I remember when I was like 6 or 7 telling my dad that the Explorer was the car I wanted when I started driving. He always said that it would never be around that long. Proved him wrong:D

Been a while since I’ve updated this. Just been super busy with a lot of stuff. Haven’t really had much time to work on the Explorer unfortunately, but I have come up with what I’m calling stage two of my build

Just need to find a second vehicle before any of this can happen haha

Tell me what you guys think and any suggestions you might have

That's an impressive list!

Instead of converting the drum axle, get a disc axle, and build it with the super 88 kit. No spacers needed with those axles, and you get better axles, and a c clip eliminator.

Duff shocks are a cheap shock, and a single fox will be better than 2 of them, imo.

Actually that’s a good idea. Proably a bit easier just to get a different axle

I’ll have to keep that in mind about the shock. I like the idea of dual shocks just because the front has that setup already

Wow. I haven’t posted in a while. Not much going on with the Explorer. Just doing a lot of planning for the upcoming projects. I’m not one for keeping secrets, so I’ve been planning both an engine rebuild. Which is the first thing on my list. As well as plans for a solid axle swap. Which is further down the road because I want to get the most use I can out of my James Duff lift.

The other thing I’ve been planning are some custom bumpers. Did some models for them and I’m liking the look

My models also give a bit of a peek at what I’m planning for solid axle swap as far as lift height and tire size goes

Got to spend most of last week camping for my birthday. It was very good to get away for a while! We stayed just outside of Woodland Park. Even got to run Rainbow Falls. First time I’ve been able to go wheeling since Augusto_O

No guarantees, but I’m thinking I’m gonna be building my front bumper within the month here. We’ll see for sure;)

Looks like you had some fun. Next Month I plan to take my son out there for a little while. I like going there. Great camping and a place to really test your rigs Flexibility.

I bought a NATO style gas can recently and needed to make a mount so I can put it on the tire carrier like I had always intended to. Made good progress on the main cage for the gas can. The top ended up being a bit wider than the bottom mainly because I didn’t measure quite righto_O No worries though. It’ll work just fine. If it bothers me enough I’ll build a new one when I build the custom rear bumper (like that’s actually gonna happen soon:crazy:)

Still need to build the hoop for the top that will keep the can in place and allow me to lock it. Then need to weld some brackets to the tire carrier so I can bolt the mount to it. Decided I wanted to bolt it on so it can be reused if I wanted to. Then it’s just a matter of paint after that...

I also changed the oil today and realized my oil leak of 15ish years has gotten worse:( It’s leaked from the pan gasket for a long time now. This looks like the leak from the pan gasket has gotten worse and the rear main may be leaking as well

where did you get a genuine jerry can with the original spout
