Is there anyway to stop that annoying sound when you dont fasten your seatbelt? i thought about going to the junkyard and buying a buckle to leave in the fastener but there must be another way

Turn to page 161 in your manual for instructions on how to deactivate BeltMinder.

Or:

One time disable

Any time the safety belt is buckled and then unbuckled during an
ignition ON cycle, BeltMinder will be disabled for that ignition cycle only.

Deactivating/activating the BeltMinder feature
Read steps 1 - 9 thoroughly before proceeding with the
deactivation/activation programming procedure.

The BeltMinder feature can be deactivated/activated by performing the
following procedure:

Before following the procedure, make sure that:
* the parking brake is set
* the gearshift is in P (Park) (automatic transmission) or the neutral
position (manual transmission).
* the ignition switch is in the OFF position
* all vehicle doors are closed
* the driver’s safety belt is unbuckled
* the parklamps/headlamps are in OFF position (If vehicle is equipped
with Autolamps, the Autolamps feature MUST be turned off.)

To reduce the risk of injury, do not deactivate/activate the Belt
Minder feature while driving the vehicle.

1. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN (or ON) position. (DO NOT
START THE ENGINE)

2. Wait until the safety belt warning light turns off. (Approximately 1–2
minutes)
* Steps 3–5 must be completed within 60 seconds or the procedure will
have to be repeated.

3. Buckle then unbuckle the safety belt three times, ending with the
safety belt unbuckled. This can be done before or during BeltMinder
warning activation.

4. Turn on the parklamps/headlamps, turn off the parklamps/headlamps.

5. Buckle then unbuckle the safety belt three times, ending with the
safety belt unbuckled.
* After step 5 the safety belt warning light will be turned on for three
seconds.

6. Within seven seconds of the safety belt warning light turning off,
buckle then unbuckle the safety belt

* This will disable BeltMinder if it is currently enabled, or enable
BeltMinder if it is currently disabled.

7. Confirmation of disabling BeltMinder is provided by flashing the safety
belt warning light four times per second for three seconds.

8. Confirmation of enabling BeltMinder is provided by flashing the safety
belt warning light four times per second for three seconds, followed by
three seconds with the safety belt warning light off, then followed by
flashing the safety belt warning light four times per second for three
seconds again.

9. After receiving confirmation, the deactivation/activation procedure is
complete.

Or just wear your seat belt.

They are there for a reason, and they work well.

Monmix, who would think of doing such a crazy thing? :p

Just tried removing BeltMinder on my 2002X. Workes great! Thank's

Shoot, On my 1993 Ex I just unpluged the wire that leads from the Seatbelt. I hate the alarm because I always wear my seatbelt. Worked on my 1986 Accord, my friends 1993 Civic and my dads 2005 Accord. I'm not sure about newer ex's though.

Will this activate the alarm on a 99 Euro Spec Explorer that I am converting to U.S. specs?

my chime and light went away when i unplugged it at the bottom of the buckle

did that to my 05. really felt like an idiot goin through all that, but man is it worth it.

I turned off the belt minder on my explorer and grand marquis as well. I always wear the seat belts except when just say going a couple of blocks to get gas or something, I don't want to hear that noise in those cases. I am glad they provided this turn off feature. Now I just wish I could get the Autolock to turn off.

Any suggestions on how to (re)activate the belt minder chime if the above mentioned procedure fails to work ( and the wire at the buckle is attached )?

The dash warning light functions properly.

Thanks ........

Seat belt alarm removal

i followed the instructions to a tee......12 times dint work on my mountaineer... can i get some help here?

My biggest problem is I've sat in the truck running/idling and that damn thing starts dinging. Tha's annoying. I'll give this a shot tommorrow.

I'm glad I found this, because that's been bugging me. Who would've thought to read the owner's manual?? I always wear my seatbelt while on the road but do a lot of driving around the jobsite where I'm always in and out of the trucked, parked, or driving at very slow speeds where it becomes annoying...

I couldn't get this to work on my Explorer. The guy at the dealership told me before that there was a code where he could turn it off for me. I'm going to have to stop back there and have him do it.

Nevea I know you helped me
Like to return the favor
The seat belt deactivate should work it did on mine
but make sure you use the instructions to the letter that Michael wrote
You must wait for the seat belt light to go out on the dash first
I started after the chime stopped that doesn't work

I couldn't get it to work following it to the tee. My dealership had to do it three times before they could get it to finally take using their computer. For some reason every time I left it was still on and had to turn around and have them do it again. I might just have one of those finicky computers in my truck.

Worked on my 03 perfect! I always wear my belt also, but I hated it when you are at a drive thru and take your seat belt off to get your wallet and that sucker starts dinging!! I don't like to be nagged!!
