Hey everyone! I'm going to start gathering my parts needed for my SAS. My first question relates to the axle. I need to get a D44 Reverse Rotation correct? I may buy it from Currie, so does anyone know what the dimensions need to be? I'm sure it needs to be cut, but I don't know to what size.

:feedback:exterior. should i lift and get tires? or buy a brush guard and 31' ATs? price wise should be the same but if i go with the guard and 31's there is a chance my parents will pay for the tires. if i buy 32's or 33's after the lift i have to buy em by myself.
I trying to plan a body swap on my Explorer Sport but I need some measurements. Can someone with a 98+ 4 door extended cab ranger measure from the center of the front wheel to the cab corner. And someone with a standard cab take the same measurement for me. I've had my X for 10 years and it's been thru hell and back. Wrecked twice, bounced off trees, never been garaged in Midwest winters, the side drug down a ditch and drowned. The drivetrain is solid but the body is completely rusted out and trashed. So I'm trying to plan swapping a 03+ front clip, hood and extended cab onto my frame. If the extended cab us too long I'll have to settle for a standard cab. Either way I'm going to have a ranger cab with a flatbed on my Explorer frame...
Wolf's '93 Sport Getting A '94 'stang 5.0 and 4R70W '99 v8 X tranny (Completed) Pre-note, now that I have confused everyone with a name change, took me a while to find my real login seeing I forgot what it was in the 2 years since I had last used it :) but I'm back!... now on with the show... Ok, in the first thread I started (link here soon as I figure out how..) I was taking suggestions on what to use for the swap, well, now my mind is made up... and here is whats on it :D Engine: '94 5.0lt EFI mustang motor, w/ all accories around 70k miles on it, need to get more info from the person I'm getting it from -going with the '94 due to the shorter front for the much needed space in the X Wiring: Motor: '93 mustang...
OK, here's the question. Been reading the Harwood manual and the Ford manual for just the fuel injection stuff. It looks like HArwood used a lot of info from this manual. ( which is fine ). The engine harness from a 93 Mustang ( It connects all the injectors plus Oil send unit, Water temp unit, and 2 other sensors ) has 2 large round connectors that should hook into the Main Harness ( the one that hooks upto the computer ). The problem is that my Explorer Harness does not have the correct "Round Connectors " on the Main Harness. I can get the round connectors from the Donar 93 Mustang Harness and splice them in to my Explorer Harness. Is this similar to what others who have done this conversion did? Still reading manuals...
I've hit that spot in the project to start thinking more in depth about wiring harness stuff for the 302. There are a couple of ptions that I know about. 1) By a complete " No Brainer " wiring harnes from this one outfit. $600 for the complete set-up. Ready to go, no splicing or tracing needed. 2) Or buy a wiring harness from Ford Racing. This Harness is $200 and you need to hook it into the existing harness. 3) There is a book with very detailed instructions & tips available from Ford Racing and is the same instructions I believe that Kaufman uses in the conversion kit. $5.00 I want the book, but am finding it difficult to obtain. I don't know the title or part number of this book. Kaufman will not sell this...
Well, i started the assembly of my winch mount today. Here are the pieces i'm using. 1/2" holes And the almost finished product: I'm going to stitch weld that 1/4" plate on the top of the 2 pieces of angle. The bolt pattern of my winch is 10 by 4.5". I'm getting a Warn M8000. Pretty cheap winch, and it's good to get me through what i'll use it for. Anyways, the bolts will bold through the diamond plate, 1/4" plate, and the 1/4" angle. The whole assembly will fit right inside the bumper and will be covered by this diamond plate that is already on there. Give me some suggestions here, am i headed in the right direction?
Ive got a 93 explorer which is a 4wd auto. This truck has already had alot of problems on and off the road. I am looking to make it stronger off road. I've got 31 all terrains and everything else is stock. My plans include a 4" lift upfront with all the necessary steering adjustments. I want to try and do a spring over axle conversion for the back although I have no knowledge of this at all. I want to replace the shocks. This is as far as I've gotten and would love some info on how to make this little explorer perform. Ive started looking into new lockers, different gears, and stronger axles yet I dont know anything about this. I am paying off a lot of debt for a dead transmission, towing charges, ticket charges, a new fuel...
