Finished up my m90 and just ordered some new oil for it. Should be good to go. In preparation for actually installing a supercharger, or a turbo, I'm sure everyone wants to add some gauges. I think boost/vacuum and AFR are pretty important. I would like to have some input from others on which vehicle components should be monitored when going with forced induction. I personally plan on using two PLX DM-6 gauges, which can connect to 16 sensors each, but I want two so that I can simultaneous display boost and AFR. I like that they are really thin and plan on installing them on the gauge bezel; they should only cover the PRNDL Haha. I don't want this post to be about which brand is best. I mentioned my plan to keep everyone updated with...
This is a place holder for info on Virtual dyno and how we can utilize it for our cars by using SCT logs and 3rd or 4th gear pulls on a flat road to review our HP. Why would you use this? If you're using a mail order tune you can take data logs for the tuner that will allow them to see what your car is doing. If you are playing with timing you want to get to a place where more timing doesn't add more power, you can only see this with a dyno. By utilizing this program you can get the car really close what the maximum output possible without spending HOURS for dyno time. After you think you're close THEN you head to the dyno to do some verification pulls. Need to find valid frontal area and CD information for the Explorer Sport...
So just wanted to see what everyone thinks or feels about larger valves. Numbers are just a reference, I have a spare head and will be chopping it up soon to get exact numbers.. So this is more towards the ohv and being FI.keep in mind the ohv has very small valves and I will be stroking it and running 4" pistons.now lets say you have .200 of clearance for the valves to go larger.what would be best for FI and the fack my motor will be larger and stock is super small. So would you A-increase the intake valve .200 and leave the exhaust the same? B-increase the exhaust .200 leaving the intake the same? C-increase both .100? D-increase the intake larger say .150 and smaller exhaust increase .050(or any other equal number)...
Hello Everyone I have a 1996 Explorer Premium Sport (2 door). For the past few weeks I have noticed an antifreeze smell. A mechanic told me that both heads were leaking Left side more so that the right. She has about 80,000 miles and everything is orginal. I was told that to repair the leaking gaskets could be expensive and if the the heads are damaged I might need a new engine? I thought a new engine lets make it a V8 then... I've search this forum and few other places, and found information more for the gen1 explorers and ranges. I wondering how that compares to an engine swap for a gen2 (96 Explorer). I'm looking for a general swap- (not a race truck= high Hp, or for off road use etc), not a drastic conversion. What will...
Hey everyone, I have been fighting what I think is a heat soak issue, I have a supercharger under the hood so I know the why. The question I have is, I have heard rumors of v8 radiators helping since they are thicker. Also since I run an 8x11 bm cooler, should I be ok in terms of not using the radiator as a heat exchanger?
good morning I was just wondering about how difficult it would be to drop a 5.0 or a 4.6 in a 2dr sport. What all has to be done, and is their a kit or something with parts and or instructions i need? The sport i have now, has the P.R. v6 and is a little to tame for me. Any help will do. thanks the f@#%ing new guy dominic
