im just saying,t hey get a hell of allot more money/benifits than we will ever know

But so do many other people in business all over the country. That can't be taken into account when deciding what they should be paid for this particular job.

Think about it this way, lets say you're independently wealthy and don't have to work. BUT you do work, you go and become a police officer or something. Is the simple reason that you have plenty of money on your own enough for them to not pay you or pay you very little for your police work because you know, the police department needs the money? No, that would be completely unfair. You are being paid to do a job, and it doesn't matter what the other circumstances in your life are.

But Stephen if the police department was in debt and the economy wasn't very strong would you still justify getting a raise. I guess what I don't agree with is the economy is sucking the hind tit. Most companies are still cutting back due to the unpredictable economy but the goverment which has the biggest debt ever figures they deserve a raise when most Americans aren't getting a raise and are just lucky to have a job?????

i second that... its part of working for an organization, If a company that sells gizmos isn't selling so many anymore but their tech support guys are doing great then that doesn't mean the tech support guys should get a raise get, the company is suffering and therefore everyone in the company suffers...

My big gripe isn't that they shouldn't be paid so much because they are rich anyway, my problem is that I don't believe that a public servant whose paycheck comes out of mine should be making $150k plus the extreme amount of benefits they get. I also think that we pay the President too much. We should never have a situation where people are going into politics for the money, and I think that that is what we have created.
