The snow was falling, the 4X4 high light was on and my front wheels were engaging. I reached my destination with no problem, but the return trip is another story. Started up my 97 Explorer, turned the 4X4 high on and got no light and four wheel drive which made for a tedious trip on the back roads. I checked the fuse specified in the owner's manual and it checked good and now I'm at a loss. Any ideas on what I need to do?

Wheel hub assembly is bad. From 95 to 05 ford couldnt figure out their hubs suck. I had a ranger same problem, replaced them at a cost of about 125 each, it worked. Now my 02 explorer is having same problem those are a little more costly at over 300 a set. I wouldnt buy from ebay, i went thru 2 sets of those on the ranger in about 2 months. I just bought from rockauto.com for my explorer.
