Anyone have an extended transmission pan with a dipstick or know if its available aftermarket for the 5R55s and 5R55w transmissions. I thought I heard someone on here having it but cannot seem to find it again.

The Summit item includes an extra capacity pan (which should be no problem - there's a lot of clearance underneath the existing pan. I have been thinking of this myself.
My only hesitation in buying one is that every one I found on the web are for Mustangs. The tranny is the same, but will the added height of the explorer body make the 'stang dipstick too short?
I actually just found this post in the 2006-2010 modified section. Those year explorers have the 5r55s and pretty much the same dimensions in height etc. He has the extended pan and dipstick and shows a picture of it in the engine bay. It looks fine and he says that he has room to fill it from the dipstick. Here is the thread
It doesn't go In so easy and without body lift or exhaust work it won't fit...
A great mod though...pa27455kt....... Pan is 6" deep if to want to measure...(oe pans have the back cut on a 45.... Plus oe has a fat disc magnet that you can't put in the new aluminum pan...I put mine on the bottom of the filter...
Why do you need to fill it? It shouldn't be low or there's a problem. Mines more for checking before towing and testing fluid quality...did pull down temps 10% and takes twice as far to warm up..with the new external cooler I barely bt the 125 required for lockup in my five mile drive to work...
I am running this on my 4.6l 2003. I had to get the exhaust pipe "lowered" to clear the new pan. Whats this about your not locking up on five mile drive? Are you having trouble running the inline cooler and the extra cooler?

I wouldn't lower my exhaust as its a off road rig.... That said the torque converter won't lock up until the trans fluid hits 125 f....thus the five miles... Was about three if I hop in and roll but now its noticeably longer..
I'm not using the oe cooler since jasper wants a clean system and can't gaurntee my cooler is free of all debris.... Now I have a Hayes in front of the ac condenser....
I'm thinking to install the PA2746 which is stock 5r55 pan with dipstick. They are advertising it for Mustang. I’m guessing the pan should fit but will the dipstick fit?
Well, body lift isn't suspension but I had to raise the tail of the trans and xcase to clear exhaust(still very close, I made a heat shield) had to go up an inch... The oe pan has the back side cut at a 45 to clear exhaust, something mustangs don't need... Measure from where the pan begins to exhaust and I bet its 5"(pan is 6")
