Brake light problems

I have a 1994 explorer limited and when i press on the brakes, the lights dont come on. they only come on when im flooring the brake pedal. they also come on dim when i turn on the headlights but only get brighter when the pedal is touching the floor. any ideas of what might be wrong?

I replaced the brake light switch. Easy and all is working great!!

Glad you got it figured out.... not bad for less than $10.

I had a 94 ranger do that to me once.... $7 brake light switch and done.
