How fast were you going? Maybe it was trying to help you not die.
So...was your foot on the gas when you were turning? On the brake? On neither? How fast were you going? What is the condition of your tires? What was the road surface like? How dirty is the car (sometimes snow and mud can interfere with the wheel speed sensors)?
