outside door handles

i been having this ever since i got my explorer... the handles the u use to open the door from the outside, theyre all loose and they dont seem to have a screws or anything...do i have to open up the door panel or what?

I'm pretty sure the outside handles on a 92 are riveted on with 1/4" rivets.

Do a search for door handles on this forum. You'll find a number of threads on it. Your problem (as is mine) is that one of the springs is busted. Yes, they are held in by rivits. One of the threads, "Floppy Door Handle Fix" by CBII, gives step by step procedure for replacing. And if my memory serves correctly, you can still get replacement handles for 1st gen's at your dealership for around $40 ea.
