Folks,

I have a '96 Eddie Bower Explorer. Headlights and tail lights are no longer working. The wiring inside the center consul seems to be smoking. I guess I'm going to have to take off the the consul and dash, but have any of you experienced this? Recommendations?

Is it console or the steering column smoking? If its the column then it might be the wires to the multi function switch. Or the multifunction switch it self.

Explain what you are calling "center consul". If you are in fact talking about the center console between the seats, then there is every likelyhood there is a short to one of your interior lights. My console has no lights in it that I know of. 96 XLT. So, I am not sure what you are talking about.
