first off im new sorry if repost but i couldnt search anything so i just picked up a 96 xl 4.0 auto drove it straight home caus the alternator was toast drove it last night the temp gauge goes to red i rev it a bit goes to 3/4 so on and so forth after cold start sitting for 12 hours it takes 2 mins to hit half on the thermostat.. also the trani the fluid dosent smell burnt kinda gritty not blood red but still red kinda orangeish but last night it slipped and shuttered once drove home took it out this morning and it didnt slip at all could it be related to the heating issue im confused and idk if i should change the trans fluid if its toast im ripping the auto out and raping this ex 4.0 manual at the junk yard for everything
