I just installed a CB unit in my rig, but the antenna coaxial wire has got me stumped. Am I able to splice it safely,if so, how? I am hooking it to a 6 foot fiberglass whip,so where does the cunducter wire hook up, as well as the ground? Thank you for any help!!

I'm not exactly clear on what you problem is. However when I purchased a Ball swivel mount I found the standard CB coaxial connector didn't fit and I needed to splice it. A coaxial cable is made of 2 parts a) the inner core b) the outer wire shielding. I had to cut off the connector and splice the inner core (white wire) to the central post; then gather up and twist the outer shielding wires (black electrical tape) together and connect them to the grounding plate. Basically the CB will send the signal out through the inner wire through the antenna and back through the shielding/ground wire to the CB to complete the circuit.
