need help with cb whip.

Hi. new here from cary. ive got a '99 xlt that I am trying to put a cobra 29 classic cb. its used and comes with a 12 foot whip. my question is ive seen people mount their whip next to the gas tank and i have also seen them on the side of the bumper. which would be a better choice for the 12 footer? thanks in advance

12 foot?? CB uses a 9 foot whip equalling 1/4 wavelength. I've never seen a 12 foot whip. If you are not afraid to drill holes in the body then mounting it with a ball mount is the best option. If not then a bumper mount will do OK as long as it is properly grounded.
