'94 amplifier

Have just purchased a 94 xlt and am in the process of fitting a c.d player in place of the original cassette radio.I beleive ther is an amplifier fitted as standard.Can anyone tell me where to find it.Any tips will help.Hi to everyone from the U K.

Welcome to the site. The stock OEM amplifier is located in the boot area (right side) as pictured below. You will obviously need to remove the plastic trim to get at it. You will need a 5.5mm socket to remove the bolt securing the clothes hanger. I would suggest you pick up the trim removal tool pictured below. It will remove the trim push pins without breaking them.

If your original cassette radio has a base part number of -19B132-, your Explorer will NOT have an amp. If the original radio has a base part number of -19B165-, then it WILL have an amp back there. Most likely it will have an amp, as about 85% of the Explorers we built in 1994 had an amplified system.

I had an idea were it was but i wasnt sure either. I used search for once to find this :D. Getting an eddie baur today for parts, first step, pull sound system out.
