91 sport offroading in the snow

did some minor offroading in the snow up north near houghton lake, mi. had a blast, this explorer is a lot more capable than i thought. if anyone else goes offroading up there, hit me up hourang@yahoo.com. im new to offroading, just been riding 4 wheelers and dirt bikes, im hooked!

Haha, that's the same way I started...before I knew it I was spending most of my pay check on it. Looks like a lot of fun, I can't wait til it snows down here again. I'll do whatever I have to, to make sure I get to wheel in some snow!

yeah i know what you mean im thinking about throwing a ton of money at this ride too. sucks though cuz i have too many hobbies and my camaro has been getting a LOT of my money lately ($2600 rear end, ouch). ive been taking a brake on it over the winter thats why im thinking of sinking money into this ex, but spring is only a few months away and i still have a lot of work left on the camaro before its ready for the track.

anyway, upnorth was a blast and the ex did very well in the snow, ice and mud. my cousin got his 06 f150 xlt stuck in a big ice hole:

not even 1000 miles on it and this is the second time he got stuck, this time needed a tow truck... it was buryied up to the top of the tires with 6in thick ice surrounding it, luckily it didnt damage anything. fun stuff.

just an update, i added a JVC KD-G420:

also put on a dynomax catback from summit, installed some polk 5x8s, installed my kicker comp 10" truck sub box combo, and magnaflow cats. ordered the spindle kit for manual hubs conversion and should be getting the kit soon after i finish some things on my camaro first.

after that i plan on getting a 2-4" lift kit and maybe some rims and bigger tires.

Yeah I started the same way, went wheeling a few times, just spent $725 for a new front axel, 4.10 gears and an ARB airlocker. I live in Carleton, MI. That is about a half hour south of Detroit. There is this cool place to go offroad in Flint called the mounds ORV recreation park (google it). It has stuff for beginners and advanced. Only ten bucks to drive all day. Me and my buddies went there and stayed in a campground close by. I was completly stock with worn tires and got stuck only once. It took two of them to pull me out. (a 4-runner and a JEEP!)

awesome man!! i would love to go there sometime. i usually just go up north to my gma's trailer near houghton lake and offroad there. i see jeepers offroading all the time up there. i will definately check that out, a lot closer than houghton lake
