I'm thinking about some stainless steel brake lines. Beside the obvious about strength. I've read that there is a more firmer feel because the stainless enclosed line does not buldge out when brake is depressed. Has anybody here noticed that claim. I can understand the concept but how about actually feeling the diference? Or is this just more hype?

I have been looking for SS brake hoses for my '99; can't seem to find any.

Let me check out this new source. If in fact they can make them I'll be glad to help. Should have yes/no by next week.

Hype - i now have front and rear SS flex hoses running from the frame to the diff's and the brakes dont feel any better then before..... mind you i have 1/2 ton calipers front and 1/2ton wheel cylinders rear so thats a pretty big upgrade and i can lock up all 4x 35" tires on dry pavement...... just not very noticeable pedal feel...

most go-fast type speed shop's sell stainless steel lines with ANY type of line fitting you will ever need and here they are 25% cheaper then skyjacker but not D.O.T approved.

Any good hyddraulic shop can custom make them cheap.

hey rookie if you found out please let me know also i have been looking but been unable to find them thanks

Ouch. I finally went over to the guy who makes these stainless steel lines. He wanted $60.00 for just one. He said the ford ends are hard to get. And I thought to myself it's going to be harder for him to get my $60.00. Sounds like a big rip off to me. What do you guys think. This would be for a first gen. X
This was a hydraulic hose shop
I did not order.

Go to a real speed shop.. Bring your old line with you..

They most likely carry "Earls" brand which is actually holley. They have a generic end on it, and the speed shop should have the ends (fittings) you need.

I got them for about $20 each (for our '92).. I actually carry a spare front and a spare rear brake line in the truck when wheeling (I blew one out once.. they don't take up much space)..

Thanks, that will go on the list of things to do tommorrow. I like the idea about one extra when wheeling.

I have a local Royal Brass and Hose that can make most brake hoses. I have them on my 99 Explorer, and now my 98 Mountaineer with custom 12.9" rotors. The brake lines are about $25 each here, made while I watched. Regards,

the companies that sell the ss lines for yotas are $30 each, as a price reference

So $25 to $30 price range I can handle. I'll check on some speed shops and some more hose shops. Thanks

My store here doesn't carry the caliper ends, but reused the factory ends. The frame end they stock, though the tiny tab that keeps it from spinning had to be filed down some. Minor issue, five minutes of work. Regards,

Al there is a Hydrolic place that i took old blewen out steering line from the Searay too for $6 they put a new fitting on, and it took dad longer to get out of the truck then the whole fix. I am 99% sure they can help you out, hell next time i am in Brandington i will look in to it.

They are Just East of 301, 3-ish miles north of the airport near Tallavasst and the bread factory. They are 1 block east of the of 301 and if you past them and are on the right street you will go down a curve and see a fire dept, but that is too far.
