ok so i have been informed that colorado emmisions will not test vehicles with 33+ inch tires unless they are stock size...such as the h2's is this true...and what do people do? put on their stock tireS? its gonna be a little scarry with stock tires as opposed to 36's even if im only going to the emmisons place.

nevermind...its been confirmed.

Most people here that need to have their vehicle tested keep a set of stock or near stock height tires for swapping out to get their vehicle tested.

yeah ill try that.

Oh crap... how often will I have to get emissions checked? If this is the case I may not be putting on my 32's until after I move to CO and get the vehicle checked.

Is it for 33's and larger or is it for any tire larger than stock?

Ok, quick search and I found this: http://www.dmv.org/co-colorado/smog-check.php

Enhanced Testing
Envirotest Inc., sporting the name Air Care Colorado, runs the enhanced testing program in the seven areas named above. The company operates 14 centers, open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to noon on Saturdays.

The enhanced or I/M240 test is necessary for all gas-powered cars produced in 1982 and after and is valid for two years. When you receive your registration renewal card in the mail it will specify whether you are due for the test. The fee is $25 payable by cash or check.

From the Air Care Colorado, Envirotest Inc. website: http://www.aircarecolorado.com/im240tst.htm

An Important Note About Tire Size
Tires that are smaller than 17 inches or larger than 34 inches cannot be safely tested on the dynamometer.

Only vehicles with manufacturer-equipped undersized or oversized tires that do not fit safely on the dynamometer will be authorized by the state to undergo an idle test instead of a dynamometer test. Vehicles with tires larger or smaller than original equipment that do not fit safely on the dynamometer must be returned to stock condition for testing. Vehicles with non-original undersized or oversized tires will not receive authorization from the state for an idle test.

So, from what I read: if my truck has 34's or smaller AND safely fits on the dyno, I should be OK

Aww crap... clicking around on that website about the testing I found this.

Non-Standard Tire Sizes
Tires larger than 34 inches cannot be tested on the dynamometer for safety reasons. Nonstandard (not manufacturer-equipped) oversized tires will need to be replaced with standard-size tires for your vehicle in order to be tested on the dyne. This does not apply to 1981 and older vehicles, which are not tested on the dyne. Vehicles with non-standard tires of over 34 inches will be rejected from testing.

One place on the site it says as long as they're smaller than 34's your OK, the other place on the site says that non OEM tire sizes will need to be replaced to stock

yeah i know its nuts....hmmm well where in colorado are you moving?

Yup get a pad outside of the testing area, no worries

i dont have a choice im 17 ii live with my mother...uhh what about registering it at someone elses address..is that even legal. and what about the liscence i mean does that address have to match your title.

Fort Collins is in Larimer County

Emission Requirements
Effective January 1, 2007, gasoline vehicles are no longer required to have a basic emissions test to be used in Larimer, Weld, or El Paso counties. If the vehicle is used over 90 days a year in the Enhanced areas, (Adams, Arapahoe, Boulder, Broomfield, Denver, Douglas, and Jefferson County) an Enhanced emissions test is required. Please see the Air Care Colorado website at www.aircarecolorado.com for information.
