Hey all,
I have a 2001 Sport Trac with the light brown and silver interior. The silver paint has been chipping, peeling and just looking like hell. I want to paint it and have found some threads on it. Some guys have used $7 spray paint while others used $40 paint. What do you guys think is best to use? Have any pics of how yours looks? Thanks!

Rustolieum has a metalic silver paint that matches the stock silver paint in the sports well.

It seems to be quite durable too. I haven't had any flaking or chipping.

I got a can of touch up paint(spray) from Canadian Tire, Kind of a metalic silver...
looks great...all ya gotta do is lots of prep...sanding and stuff. the more prep you do, the better it will look...

Well I pulled all of the parts to be painted out and worked on the radio bezel lastnight. I hit it with some brake cleaner and the paint pretty much fell off. I then sanded it with some 800 grit and it looks like it is ready to go. I am wodering if I also ned to strip the center console in the same mannner? It looks like it doesn't have the same "rubber" paint on it. Any ideas on this? Thanks again!

Glad to hear the cleaner worked well. I always had the hardest time getting that rubber coating off. The black consoles had the rubber coating as well, I'm not sure how the silver ones were finished.

Good luck.

man I wish I would have tried Brake Cleaner...I used varsol, and it worked like ****...
