Why? It seems like the pressure would build up much more with everything closed. I mean, I take your word for it, I just wonder why it's that way.I'd like to get it metered all closed up to see exactly how much of a difference it would make.

just piecing together my first enclosure for 08 now

6 solo X 10s with 4 memphis mojo 4kw to start.

Will throw the stetsoms in later in the year ;)

Have the right coils for the stetsoms...mojos might not like 0.33 ohm strapped though.

146.9 on a TL in the passenger kick with driver door open
Two Type R 15s
Two JL 500/1s
7 cubes at 33 hz
Stock alternator
Stock battery (at the time)

My setup is not geared towards SPL at all. I didn't even plan on having it metered. I went to a small car audio event just to check out other systems, and some of the guys there convinced me to put it on the meter just for grins. I came in listening to tunes and didn't take any time to make any kind of adjustments. After seeing some of the numbers out there that day, I'm pretty happy with it.

One question for you SPL gurus - would it have been louder if the driver door was closed, sealing up the truck? Was it louder because the door was open? The guy setting up the mic told me to keep my door open, so I did. I have been curious about that ever since.

Some cars lose dBs sealed and some pople gain dBs. Sealed I do a 147.8 and with a window down I can gain a dB to a dB and a half. Just seal up your vehicle and wile your bass is on, open and close the door wile sitting inside. Easy way to find out what’s louder for your ride.

Not always! Its vehicle, install and tuning frequency dependent. Also is you Bass Race you wanna do your run sealed because it gives you a little more accuracy in controlling your bass so you don’t bust out. Also if you Bass Race the 150s class you have no choice. Vehicle HAS to be sealed.

Mine definitely sounds and feels a lot louder with everything closed up, but I'd like to meter it both ways to know for sure.

Havnt really had it measured with a decent meter. It read 147 on the crappy $12 walmart meter

wal mart meter is aweful...not even accurate at all

that box ported??

I'm getting meter at the MECA event here in town in 4 weaks...hope to get alteast into the 140s.

First time getting metered also

if it sounds louder with the ports stuffed than I guess you have a prefab that sucks. Get a real ported box built and you'll be MUCH happier

Its louder with the ports but I like to feel it. Personal preference I guess. lol
I dont remember how the box was when I measured it and I havnt really measured both ported and sealed, but the ported just sounds louder.
