thank you.. and i had to try pretty hard to get there too!
lol, got like 5 layers of dynamat on my roof and in the cargo area.

that dynamat could be keeping you below a 150 fyi.

That is probobly one of the best spl subs ever made. The install must have been top notch also. Any hearing left?

Do ya think? Wouldn't the dynamat keep the sound in the vehichle and help to boost the number?

take the mic out of the port and then see what it does

the mic was on the winshield for your information .
i have a new system which is smaller and louder im runnin 2 Mp Audio12"s and 2 2500 watt class d mono block amps runnin at a 1 ohm load wit dual optima yellow top batts wit 0 awg wiring and i hit a 168.2 and i sold my other system for more than i paid for all of my new stuff NEW

i wouldnt say one of the best ever made but they certainly are quite capable of big numbers...and handling a lot of power

yea sound deadening is one of the last things to do when fine tuning an spl system...its a lot of time and money to put in and have it not work so you just need to peel it back off. In my last vehicle i lost 1.2 db by stopping the roof from flexing. however in a daily driver with only some mic time the advantages of sound deadening will often outweight its disadvantages. low 140 db in a heavily deadened car can often sound as loud as 150 in a non deadened.

yeah i still have pretty good hearing..
install looks pretty good, just getting the speaker out of the box was a feat.. and even harder to get it in the speakerbox.. im glad that the cone is removeable, better grip for the install!
just to hold the speaker in place, i have 1'' thick mdf baffle with an 1/8th inch metal ring on the inside of the box so it wont rip the bolts out.
speaker weights damn near a hundred pounds in itself! its a hoss..

Jl w3's are fantastic sq subs but there is no way in hell you hit those numbers.
W3's are not made for SQ, though they do very well in SQ. You might be thinking of the W6's.

This might not be a high number compared to everyone else, but I run a sinlge 10W3v2-D2 in a 2 cu. ft. slot ported box with only 250 watts, & my highest is 133.2 on an Audiocontrol mic. No one in the 1-250 class in my area can touch it!

wow this is all chineese to me. Sounds like you guys have some sick systems goin. Okay, carry on....

That is impressive.

Sounds like there's some serious spl knowledge here. I tend not to shoot for high numbers, more a sq guy. I think I attended one too many kiss concerts when I was younger. I'd like to see how some of the systems on here would do on carstereo.com.If I took third no doubt you guys would do pretty damm good.

funny thing is...is that i am all about sq as well! so i built my system to be LOUD and at the same time sound good!..i wont settle for just loud, cuz then it would sound crappy.

i think you guys are confusing sq with street beating. there arent many dedicated sq setups on this site that ive seen

yeah-

no one seems to get that.

i'm tuned to 31 hz... just for the record.

I was thinking the same thing.

Here is my two cents.

Everyone is throwing round numbers like rednecks and HP at the Thursdaynight cruz in's.

Okay, so here is who I hang with to have the knowledge to call BS on about 1/4 of this thread.

Jason Lamonica.
In the back of his explorer is currently running wo Memphis Mojo Quad 1 Ohm 15's and FIVE Optima Yellow Tops in the back, with two Orion 2500d's above.

Now, he ALSO with his db SPL CRX hold the SLAP 2005 Stock 161-260sq in National Champion, and also for 2005 was at one point as per TermPro.com raitings 5th in the world for his class with a 153.4.

Now....this was at a comp with a term lab mic...

157.1 AC190 (at the drivers kick panel)

NOW.....I showed him this thread, (keep in mind he leaves and breaths listings for subs and amps on ratings from SLAP and USACi) and he looked at some of the claims....and after reading them call BS and laughed.

NOT trying to hate, jus HATE to see people bullshit about there numbers. Pet peave I guess.

146.9 on a TL in the passenger kick with driver door open
Two Type R 15s
Two JL 500/1s
7 cubes at 33 hz
Stock alternator
Stock battery (at the time)

My setup is not geared towards SPL at all. I didn't even plan on having it metered. I went to a small car audio event just to check out other systems, and some of the guys there convinced me to put it on the meter just for grins. I came in listening to tunes and didn't take any time to make any kind of adjustments. After seeing some of the numbers out there that day, I'm pretty happy with it.

One question for you SPL gurus - would it have been louder if the driver door was closed, sealing up the truck? Was it louder because the door was open? The guy setting up the mic told me to keep my door open, so I did. I have been curious about that ever since.
