I just gotta share what awesome sound I have in my system. :bounce:
Every component was carefully thought out for a purpose.

HU: Alpine CDA-9835
XM: Alpine TUA T020
Speakers: Focal 165W Utopias (of course!)
Amp: B.K. Butler Labs Tube Driver Blue 2150 (150w x 2)
(only the fronts are active to preserve and enhance imaging....)
Sub: JL Stealth Box driven by an Alpine MRV-F340

I use the Ford Factory amp to drive the rear speakers but as mentioned, I have them faded out.

If your into quality you would apreciate how this sounds, just awesome. As a matter of fact you can hear the difference between XM radio and CD's. FM? sounds like S~!T :fart:

An ya know the best thing next to the sq? ITS ALL STEALTH! All you can see is the HU faceplate and we all know what the Alpine CDA9835 looks like.

Oh Hey RFuree!
How are you? Its awesome brother. Thanks for a great deal. You gave me the deal of the century and I very much apreciate it! If this were ebay Id be giving a BIG
The sound quality is awesome.....

if i had the money for an amp, you wouldnt have gotten that deal :(
thank God that i was(still am) broke, and willing to make do with 3 working factory speakers  :p

Very similar setup

Alpine makes some great stuff. Here's the direction I went after lots of research and shopping and testing. Those Focals are unbelieveable aren't they?

I've got an Eclipse 54410 CD deck, with the Eclipse 5083 8 disc changer in the console.
Focal 136Ws Utopias and the Audiohm 6W Utopias to make my 3 way set-up (built the pods myself)
No rears whatsoever
Macintosh 4x100 MC400 for high-end power
JL 500/1 feeding a stealthbox with a 10w6 DVC, like 1/2 gained.....
1 Farad Cap, Audiocontrol 24 bit crossover, all under plexi for protection.

Sounds sick, and when the doors are closed, you can barely hear a sound outside my truck thanks to covering it in Dynamat Xtreme. Here's a pic of the front setup. There are some more in the Elite section of the "images" area under

I Like burnsie's setup too. I am really like those 3-ways you got thurr and wish I had the patience and money to do some of my own.

On another note. Ive been hearing a lot that if you remove your back speakers or fade them out then your Imaging and SQ is much better. Is Dis True?

Hey Karl,

Do you loose the functionality of your parking brake with those speakers in the kick panel ?

I bent the parking brake

Not sure if there's a pic up o not, but I bent the brake so that it clears the pod. When it was only bent partially, and wouldn't quite clear, the brake gripped only when the pedal was pushed as far as it would go. Didn't like that little nick on my pod, so I bent it some more for clearance.
You can also shorten the cable so that it grips immediately (best solution), or I've seen people build electric motors which engage the parking brake (too expensive for me).

Umm....I think I win guys....My current SPL is 37 :smoke:

how do you figure out your SPL?

I actually have no idea what mine is, but all I have are 5x7 components so I'm sure it's not high at all. Anyway, from what I've heard, audio shops usually have an SPL meter that you can measure with.

alpine 9807
ma audio mpe 100 eq
ma audio synergy line driver

4 ma audio hard kore 6x8's
off 800 watt ma audio m486i amp

I'm expecting at least a 150, high 140's on the termlab with my setup... I'll know sometime soon...

(I like SQ and all, but I'll be tryin to get real loud first....)

Gentleman.... Lets go for awesome sound quality. Where is the best placement for tweeters"? The "A" pilars or in place of those side vents on the dash top?
Right now I have em with the mid driver in the doors.
