I'm sure there are other topics open about this, so feel free to redirect me (i didn't find them)
what sizes of speakers can i fit in my 01 sport? especially in the front, but also in the back. i believe the stock ones are 6x8.
in addition, how can i adapt that weird plug that is now connected to the stock speakers in order to make it fit with the regular 2 wires connection of the aftermarkets? i hope i explained myself.. sorry about the english :S
thanks

all of them are 6x8

I had mine (son's) altered to fit 6x9s in the rear - only the inner part of the speaker chamber(?) was cut. The attachments were modified to connect to the Pioneers.

Go to crutchfield.com or similar and buy some wire harnesses. They are cheap and save you the trouble of splicing factory speaker wiring.

Wire harnesses come with the speakers... Is it best to use the adapter?

donner: how did you alter in order to fit the 6x9? and how did you wire them without adaptors? i was thinking about cuttind and soldering..

6x9s

Not me :) The installers did both Exs. The 03 they cut away at the door; the 01 they went behind the exterior cover, and cut that area. All very clean and no signs of damage or problems... The adapter on the 01, well I got curious and chopped them off... added the wires from the speaker box... I had 6x8s, but switched to 6x9s later. That's it.

Careful with the cutting... the installers might have slipped in additional paneling... I'm not sure if this pic of the (tan intrior) is the 6x8 or 6x9.

(These are 2 8" sw they installed in the rear storage panel...

thanks for the pics and the info ;)
everything brings me down to the last question: is it worth it to fit the 6x9? is the quality a lot better than the regulare 6x8?

Yes. Especially if you plan on no amps or anything extra... the 6x9s carry more bass.
