I'm considering doing a lift by twisting the torsion bars tighter on the front end.
I found a good set of directions. Does anyone know if this causes any problems later on like wear or damage. Also how should i lift the rear. It looks like the cheapest is doing a shackle lift. Would i need new rear shocks? Thanks

After doing the torsion bar lift you will need to get an alingment. You should not have any reliability issues as long as you stay under 2" of lift otherwise cv shafts will wear faster.. cheapest lift in the rear is shackles. u will not need new shocks.

they say the front hubs wear faster, and you wont need new shocks. unless you going extreme like the 3" twist kits, then youll have to upgrade to a longer shock. but you'll install the shackles first, then adjust the torsions bars to level it out, usually only 1-2" of lift.

thanks, thats all i want about 1.5-2 inches. i dont have the money for anything crazy. not to mention i drive 60 miles a day. i just dont know where to look for shackles

Thank you. How much rougher did your ride quality get after the lift?

does anyone have any pics of just the torsion twist and shackle lift. i see pics, but most of them have body lifts too.

looks awesome. hopefully looks good on my 97 sport with the stock 255 70 r16s
i just got them. sure as hell not spending another 500 for bigger ones right now

ive been told i need an alignment after i do this. correct me if im wrong, but i would only need the front wheels aligned, not all 4. because i dont see how shackles would knock off alignment in the rear
