ebay has some good deals on it with free shipping. Thats where I got mine about 9 months ago for $145 i think

I would do an ebay auction. Usually cheaper than picking it up locally. Might be able to grab a whole kit for about 160 to 200 depending on the shipping and such

Yea I'll def order online, DT electronics has it, it's a "trunk kit" and they want like 110$ or somethin like that, and another kit for like 70 that just does the trunk lid.

( Dynamat 10455 Xtreme Bulk Pack 9 Sheets )

Yep. thats the one!

Is 1 of those really enough for a whole explorer?

Some cars I've seen have dynamat covering every inch of the floor and wheel wells and on the inner and outer door skin. Is all that necessary? How heavily are you guys putting it on?

I did my 1996 with the extreme bulk pack. It did my doors and back hatch with some extra for around the factory sub. It did the outside door skin and inside door skin for all 4 doors.

It made a really big difference. Still have a rattle or two from the rear seat belt tensioners. I need to get the passenger side panel off and get some foam in/around the seat belt tensioner.

heres my 2 cents i had dynomat in my previous car and what a difference it made i felt that it was cleaner and crisper and nothing rattled. Also when i put my sub/amp in behind the third row i noticed the plastic piece on the window part of the tailgate where the rear wiper motor is , was rattling like a biatch. Sounded like a serperate type of bass lol, I removed that whole plastic peice so the mechanical stuff is opened but no more rattle. At all!!! No one sees it and i dont even notice its missing. i got nice diesel license plate screws so that doesnt vibrate either, that was the only other thing. I only have one 12 inch sub to so im assuming u have a bigger setup but this might help...

As I mentioned before, if you really want the best quality sound you will double up in certain places to keep from having metal to metal contact in things like the door and the truck lids. Usually one bulk pack might do most of the truck but to do the WHOLE truck will take about 2 packs total but that is a little over kill. I've normally only done the spots that rattle. But for best sound quality you should do the whole truck including the roof:thumbsup:

Yeah I agree.. It all depends on how much bass/ power you have in there. I've seen both the inner and outter door skins done but I only did the inner with a little extra in between the outter door skin and the horizontal brace because that was a source of a rattle. Dynamat is very heavy also so... If anyone was worried about speed, less is better but I know we have explorers here! :D

If you did the inner, outter, floor, and roof... I would guess you need like 3-4 packs of this stuff for a 4-door explorer.

I had found the kit on Amazon for 140$ with free shipping, and eBay for 130$ with 30$ shipping, I had the one on amazon in my cart, I want to buy it so bad but gotta wait til January if I have to get my trans rebuilt.

I guess I should just buy a bulk pack to cover all four doors. The door packs don't look like they would be enough to cover the whole door. Just need the doors as my setup is not that extreme. But since I put JL speakers in the doors, they rattle like crazy and it's annoying.

I used Dynamat on my Toyota minitruck, helped alot with everything. I bought a 36 sq ft bulk pack from amazon.com for $136 shipped. Anywhere in town they were like $200-250.

E dead 80 from Elemental Designs is $2.00 per sq ft. Its butal based & about the same thickness as Dynamat. I have Dynamat in my doors & Edead every where else. I undercoated the cab with a spray deadener. I used closed cell foam behind the plastic panels to stop the rattles there. I only have 250 watts a side on my fronts 6.5s & 500 on a single 10 sub. The sound deadening made my Ranger sound much louder. My friends can't believe I only have one sub.The sound is much cleaner without all the road noise & rattles. I haven't done the roof yet but I will when I get the money.
