So I went to get my oil changed and tires rotated before I have to drive home 6 hours on Monday. I got back to my apt, popped the hood and saw this just laying on top of the battery...I went back and the guy said it was just for the battery terminals. As many times as I've messed with the battery, I've never seen this...I just wanted to make sure it wasn't something vital before I go and drive long distance...it looks like a clip of some sort:

Looks to me like its the part that goes on the drier as a backup to hold the garter connection together.

Looks pretty rusty. Fuel filter quick-connect retainer?

Bingo. It goes on the accumulator (dryer), it simply pushes on to line, bridging the connection.
Here is a photo of the line, the one that is disconnected.

Thanks guys, but I can't for the life of me find out how it's supposed to go on there lol. Could you possibly go into greater detail?

I knew it wasn't for the battery, though. I've messed with that thing so many times there's no way I wouldn't have noticed it.

I guess they did their little "inspection" included with my oil change and tire rotation (which is why they told me I need new front brakes and rotors ) and must have took something off and forgot to put it back.

I was reluctant to go to this place to begin with, but I'm leaving Monday, I was overdue for an oil change/rotation, and I waited till the last minute so the place I trust and usually go to closed early on Saturday and isn't open Sunday. So I was stuck.

4 prongs 2 on each side of the round center. the round center is for the silver disk part and the hoses go out each side.

Pic. 5.0. Hope it's good enough.
