I have 33s with 3.73 gears. Cruising down the highway at 75mph my engine runs at 2500rpm. I drive 10 miles on the highway back and forth each way to work every day. Most days I cruise at 85mph, but on the flats I can reach over 100mph easy.

w/3.73's? Damn, i always thought that I should have a good top speed with 33's and 3.73's but I just cant seem to make the ole girl getup and go like that, so I stopped trying. I can do 70 pretty easy, but at that point the wobble makes me slow it back down. Do you guys have problems with death wobble at those speeds.?

Edit: Just realized that froader is solid and kid is a 2nd gen. ANyone with TTB care to comment?

I have an old 6-8" kit that was stripped from a Ranger. Yes, they USED to make them....

With my TTB, 33" tires, and 3.73 gears, I can fairly handily get 85 mph. Gas mileage goes downhill real fast past 70 mph or so, however. First Gen. Explorers have the aerodynamics of a concrete block. :)

My truck drives very well at those speeds - but only with a good alignment, strait tracking, and GOOD TIRES!
Tires that won't balance right, take excessive weight, or are out of round are a death trap at high speeds. Don't do it, friends. Please.

Having a front sway bar with disconnects are pretty important at interstate speeds too, I strongly encourage them being installed for Interstate or frequent DD use.
Once I was on I-64 near Shelbyville, Ky rolling 75-ish. The road was uneven (highs/lows rolling pavement) and I got hit with a crosswind. The Explorer did all manners of front/back and side/side body twisting and leans, all at once. It was bad I tell ya, I almost lost it. Installing the front sway bar eliminated this problem!

$3500 left... You're realistic

This 'ought to sum it up, I just installed one. It's work still in progress. If you look at my specs, posts, and advice it should help you shop for parts and give you an idea what you're gonna spend.

Holly old thread but ill play.i think a 5.5"&3" body with 36-37 look perfect and is about the perfect size for most off roading.

i am trading my 6" long-arm kit this weekend for a new motor for my 91 BUT i have a F150 with a 4" lift, im plannin on pullin the D44 and i think 9" in the rear and putting them under my exp. so that should give me lotsa lift ontop of my already exhisting 3" body lift

so i woulda been lifted 10.5" with 3" B/L, 6" L-A, and 1.5" coil spacers and 1.5" longer shackles :) with 38's. anyone have the link for a D44 swap?

They are 36x14.50 Parnelli Jones dirt grips and dont think they make them anymore.i like them alot, they are pretty quite and do pretty well in all terrains.fitting them was fun tho.i have 5.5"superlift with jd long arms and 3" body lift with add a leafs.i had to put fiberglass fenders on the front and trim them to clear!!:mad:the hood i did make myself and is functional,i cracked it on a trail so i need to redo it:mad:thanks for the complements, its a work in progress :D:D here is some links to the work :salute:
